ADSelfService Plus login agent for Mac OS X supports OS version 10.6 and later. The login agent is run by the Mac OS as a part of the lock screen. I suggest to refrain from making any changes to the Recovery HD and to unmount it after you copied the two files. Allow Mac users to reset their password and unlock their accounts directly from the Mac login screen via our login agent. You can then copy them to your utilities folder or anywhere you like to have easy access to them in the future. Click 'Exit to Recovery Utilities', restart your Mac and re-login with your new password. Click 'Set Password' and enter new password for each user. In the Reset Password dialogue box, click 'Forgot all passwords' to reset password for all user accounts. In Terminal, type resetpassword and hit Return. This step is optional, but it’s a good idea because it checks the consistency of the hard disk before moving on. Select Utilities > Terminal from the top menu. At the chime (or grey screen if your chime is turned off), hold down Command+S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode. There you'll find the two password utilities. Option 1: Reset 10.5 Leopard & 10.6 Snow Leopard password. In the mounted image, open the Applications folder and then the Utilities folder. If you did that already, all you have to do is to open the Disk Utility, select the Recovery HD, click on Mount it, double-click on the mounted Recovery HD, switch to show invisible files as well (use the terminal or any of the countless little apps to do this - I use HideSwitch), open the folder on the Recovery HD, double-click on the BaseSystem.dmg image. You can get permanent easy access to the two Apple password utilities in the Recovery HD, if you have followed an earlier hint here about how to ad the Debug menu to the Disk utility and have then enabled the Show Every Partition in the Disk Utility. Shutdown Mac Hold Command and R keys and Power on Mac Keep holding keys until you reach the recovery screen Select Utilities -> Terminal At the terminal. Change Mac password via making a reset and using another admin account Log into another account.
